MOVING DAY TIPS
I know moving days are kind of crazy and there is always something that goes wrong. But you can avoid a lot of those problems with planning accordingly and ahead of time. I wanted to make a list of tips that I found online and have received from others when I moved to my new apartment. Let’s get to it!
TIP 1: Clean the new place before doing anything!
This is so important!! Before you bring in any boxes or any stuff clean clean clean. First bring only your cleaning supplies and make sure every surface, floor and area is clean before you bring in your own stuff.
TIP 2: Label the boxes!
I can’t tell you how many times I heard this one from people around me and from the internet. You will have so many boxes and they will get unorganized in the chaos of moving. This saved me a ton of time and energy. Colour code rooms so you can assign a colour to each of the rooms in the new house (green=kitchen, red=living room etc….)
TIP 3 Pack a moving essentials bag!
This one is so simple but a lot of people still forget about it! Pack an essentials bag and mark it. Fill it up with things that are essentials to you and your family. Like medicine, documents, things you need right away when you move etc.
TIP 4 Pack your breakables in your clothes!
You don’t want your valuables and breakables to get ruined in the move. It’s like two birds, one stone: You’re packing your clothes and kitchenware at the same time. Use your sweaters and sweatshirts to wrap your plates and bowls etc.
TIP 5 Leave your clothes on hangers!
This one makes your life so much easier and quicker! Keep clothes on their hangers and either group them up and wrap them in large garbage bags. Then when you move you can just remove the garbage bag and easily hang them up in your closet.
That’s it for today’s blog post. I hope you enjoyed it! I had so much fun making this blog post. Let me know in the comments below your favorite moving tips!
